Barksdale Air Force Base
Home to the 2d Bomb Wing and the Mighty 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana is situated on over 22,000 acres of land in the northwest corner of Louisiana. Barksdale warriors and B-52s have a proud tradition serving both at home and abroad in support of the Global War on Terrorism; they have played vital roles in combat operations supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Serving almost 58,000 active duty, reservist, civilian employees, family members and retirees, Barksdale is an integral part of the local communities. The local area is extremely supportive of the base and its mission, providing for a warm welcome wherever you go.
Barksdale Air Force Base provides easy access to other major cities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. This area is known as the Ark-La-Tex since it is located in the northwest corner of the state adjacent to both Arkansas and Texas.
