Shreveport's Independence Stadium, located on the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, is home to the Annual Independence Bowl, which began in 1976. It is also host to other regional college games, NFL scrimmages and has hosted a NFL preseason game. Formerly known as State Fair Stadium, it has been home to a World Football League team (Shreveport Steamer) and a Canadian Football League team (Shreveport Pirates). The stadium seats 53,000 fans and recently underwent a $30 million dollar upgrade.
